Picking Up Bizarre Litter Could Pay Off

Enter Keep NC Beautiful’s Unusual Litter Contest to Win Cash Prizes – DEADLINE MAY 31

A diamond ring…1730 George II Farthing coin…abandoned boat and lost paycheck. What do these things have in common? They were all past entries to Keep NC Beautiful and PepsiCo’s Unusual Litter Contest, which is currently open to all who participate in Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup, the N.C. Department of Transportation’s spring Litter Sweep which runs April 13-21 or a similar litter cleanup event.

Winning entries are awarded 1^st place cash prize of $250, 2^nd place $100 and 3^rd place $50. It’s easy to enter the contest – find unusual litter during a litter pickup, take a picture of it and complete the entry form.  Entries can be mailed or e-mailed for consideration.

Unusual litter must be found on N.C. roadways; roadway signage; animals or reptiles are excluded from contest. Photographs will not be returned and may be used to promote litter prevention programs.
